Artist's Comments

My entry for ~Deisi's contest based on her simply phenomenal one shot. Her story features the wonderful George Weasley and how he comes to terms with the final battle in Deathly Hallows. I must say, the first time reading it, I almost bawled like a baby. It's amazing, and even if you're not completely in love with the Weasley twins, (like I am) it's definitely worth a read.

The story can be found here. [link]

Now, in explanation of what's going on in the picture. I picked the scene right after George wakes up from his nightmare and decides to go visit the shop he and Fred were running together, and before he goes to visit his brother's grave. I know that there are numerous other important, and poignant scenes I could have chosen, but I liked this because of the turning point it symbolizes. George leaves a note for his mother,

He reached the dim kitchen and scribbled a note hastily for his mother. He didn’t plan on coming back to the house that day, and he didn’t want her to worry more than he knew she already would. He left the note on the scrubbed table and opened the door onto the 4 am drizzle.

It would have been a terribly hard thing to do, I think. And I wanted to capture that, at least a little bit.

Also, to explain why the door isn't coloured... Umm, it's an artistic decision? And the outside is drizzly? And I suck terribly at scenery... It kinda symbolizes what he's heading for and leaving behind with the note he's written.

Makes sense to me, lol

Hope you like! Wish me luck in the contest ;)

:icondeisi: check her out! :D

Awesome job! I like that you chose a bit in the story that's understated but still so significant. Thanks for entering!

Thanks so much! :) I wanted to do something I was fairly sure no one else would do - it was also a point that I thought had an importance all its own, even if it was understated. :) I'm glad you liked it.
Thanks for hosting ;)
